When Squirrels Forget
a little silly poem about ADHD
Here we go again,
Where’d I put my keys?
Where’d I leave my phone?
What was her name again?
Laura, Julie, Joan?
Don’t be so hard on yourself,
I hear him say to me.
But I’ve misplaced my phone again
And now it’s pinging near a tree.
Don’t be so hard on yourself,
It’s only ADHD.
There’s tips and tricks and books and clips,
But memory is apt to flee.
Don’t be so hard on yourself,
You sort of remember his face,
And that one looks vaguely familiar.
Pretty sure this is the place.
But my head is full of jingles
And useless facts and quotes.
Never the location of my keys,
Or where I put this poem’s notes.
Don’t be so hard on yourself,
Forgotten acorns are in the ground
Left by squirrels months ago
Building forests here year-round.

Sweet and...so very relatable.
